Group Music Therapy Sessions
What is Group Music Therapy ?
Group Music Therapy sessions are about about making connections and sharing in musical experiences!
The focus of group Music Therapy is on the interactive and collaborative aspects of music making which allows participants to build relationships with one another whilst exploring their own feelings.
The Music Therapist will lead the group in a variety of musical activities that help to address the emotional, social, cognitive and physical needs of the individuals. Working towards shared therapeutic goals, building a sense of community, improving communication skills and enhancing emotional expression.

What to expect?
Sessions may involve music making with instruments, improvisation, listening and discussing music, therapeutic song writing, movement to music and much more…
Sessions are tailored to meet the needs of the individuals in the group. I have a variety of musical instruments and equipment I use in sessions. Adaptations can be made where possible to create an environment for musical discovery.
Ideally, it is recommended that groups run for at least 4-6 sessions where relationships can build and collaboration can begin to happen.

What are the benefits?
The JOY of creating music together!
Exploring and creating music collaboratively with others can help to boost emotional and social wellbeing. A communal setting encourages teamwork, participants build relationships, share experiences and feel less isolated. It can enhance communication skills and help to stimulate cognitive function. Music serves as a powerful medium for expressing feelings, in a group setting it can be used to share similar feelings and experiences which can help people develop deeper emotional understanding and empathy.
Group Music Therapy often encourages movement to rhythm which can help to improve physical coordination and motor skills. Making Music together is an enjoyable experience and may lead to new found skills and personal growth.
